President Barack Obama recently announced the appointment of ASP Board member David Thorne as United States Ambassador to Italy and San Marino. In response, ASP President Vice Admiral Lee Gunn, USN (Ret.) released the following statement:

Today, the American Security Project (ASP) announced that ASP Chairman of the Board and former US Senator Gary Hart has been appointed Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC), which advises the Secretary of Homeland Security on crucial national security issues.
