Counterinsurgency in Afghanistan

Join us for a fact-based discussion with leading experts on counterinsurgency.
As the war in Afghanistan comes to a close, the US strategy is focusing on the transition to Afghan security responsibility. We will discuss how the transition is proceeding, how counterinsurgency has evolved and what to expect from the local Afghan security forces.
The speakers:
Matt Freear is a strategic communications expert, specializing on security and stabilization in post-conflict environments.
Nick Lockwood is a British post-conflict expert specializing in population engagement and stability operations.
David H. Young is a Washington-based writer and analyst of international affairs and violent conflict.

Joshua Foust
Fellow for Asymmetric Operations at ASP. He is also a columnist for PBS and The Atlantic Monthly.
