A Conversation on Climate Adaptation at the local and national level –
An ELEEP Joint Event
Monday, April 22, 2013, 12:30 pm-2:00 pm
Venue: American Security Project, 1100 New York Avenue, NW 7th Floor West Tower
The Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network (ELEEP) brings Americans and Europeans together to discuss pressing environmental policy issues and to identify good practices and possible solutions. As part of an on-going Energy and Climate Dialogue, this ELEEP lunch discussion will focus on climate adaptation by considering actions at the local and national level.
The discussion will begin with a presentation by Jan Ahlen (ELEEP Member and Government Relations Representative of the National Farmers Union) of a recent report from 25×25 on the need for climate adaptation in agriculture. Andrew Holland, ELEEP Member and Senior Fellow for Energy and Climate at the American Security Project) will provide additional remarks on the implications of climate adaptation for national security. Mr. Holland will also moderate the discussion.
The moderators will solicit participants to provide short articles or arguments about adaptation, which will be published as a part of a larger, edited and curated document. We intend this to be an interactive roundtable discussion, and we will be eliciting interaction from all invited.
Lunch will be served.
