Taiwan joins climate change fight
For a long time, no one paid attention to climate change’s effect on Taiwan, until now. According to an article in yesterday’s Taiwan News, Sisy Chen, a well known Taiwanese political commentator and TV host is set to release a Documentary “Plus or Minus 2 Degrees Celsius” that highlights climate change’s impact on the island nation.
In light of this, she’s hoping climate change will be elevated to the national security level. She says that more national defense funds should go towards environmental protection and rescue related equipment like helicopters. She adds that more troops should be trained to handle rescue operations.
Chen’s documentary reflects the climate changes that have taken place in the past six months. Through her research, she discovered Taiwan would be among climate change’s first victims.
More and more, we are beginning to see climate change’s harmful effects throughout many countries across the world. It’s time to act before it’s too late.
