Congress’s new spending bill is a win for fusion with an increase funding for fusion-energy research by more than $100 million over last year’s budget. This increase in funding could mean finding emissions-free energy source in the next 35 year. “Fusion provides limitless clean energy,” said Miklos Porkolab, director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center. “There’s no pollution coming out of it. There’s no weapons applications. The fuel is available to all nations.”
