Fusion News: Vancouver Sun- Lineup Set for TED’s Move to Vancouver
TED, a popular international conference in the fields of technology, entertainment and design, has announced their lineup of 47 speakers for their 30th anniversary in Vancouver Convention Center . One of the speakers is Michel Laberge, a privately funded scientists who has dedicated his career to developing cheap safe form of energy, who is within striking distance of building a fusion power plant. Governments have been working on fusion technology for years, without making a huge dent. But Laberge said small and nimble companies like his, which specializes in a specific area called “magnetized target fusion,” are much closer to making power plants powered through sea water a reality. “Big governments tell us it will be another 50 years. But the little challengers like General Fusion are going to do it much sooner,” he said
