Climate Change increasing grip on Africa

A new report released by the U.N. says higher temperatures and unpredictable weather could lead to a 7 percent decline in yields for staple crops like maize. Additionally, the report states that Africa will likely face the impacts from climate change within the next 50 years. Added together, this has disaster written all over it for Africa since 30 percent of Africans live in areas prone to drought, and 60 percent of Africa’s largest cities are located in vulnerable costal areas. Chaos is bound to erupt as people battle it out over food. That’s why we need to act now. Even though assistance is in America’s DNA, and our military will be expected to lend a hand when these situations arise, we shouldn’t have to ask them to when we knew the problem existed in the first place. Correct? Sure, 50 years may seem like an eternity, but when has procrastination ever made a problem disappear?
