We can't forget about climate refugees
If we continue to allow climate change to run its disruptive course, it’s effects will produce climate refugees. Millions of people will be uprooted by sea-level rise, extreme weather events, droughts and water scarcity. According to Annegret Kapp over at World Council of Churches, the international community has done little to protect the rights of climate refugees.
“Protecting the rights of climate refugees will need to be learned by the international community – and quickly. Judging by the lack of action on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, politicians will need some pushing before they get down to the job,” Kapp.
