ASP Releases Public Survey on National Security Attitudes
At a standing-room-only event at the National Press Club today, the American Security Project released the results of its 2000-voter survey on national security attitudes.
Board members, including Senators Gary Hart and John Kerry, General Anthony Zinni, Vice Admiral Lee Gunn, Lieutenant General Daniel Christman, and Dr. Susan Rice, participated as John Marttila of Marttila Communications group presented the main findings.
Americans favor a multilateral approach and desire to remain engaged in world affairs.
They fear that America’s leadership and moral authority is in decline.
A remarkable 93 percent of respondents describe this decline as a “serious” national security problem.
The survey further demonstrated the partisan divide on national security issues, a gap that burdens vital dialogue on the future of US security.
ASP was created to bridge that divide. ASP believes we must restore American leadership in the world and recommit to cooperation with other nations to enhance not only our own national security but to find common ground on strengthening security across the globe.
