Risk Cooperative’s Dante Disparte on the Proliferation of Global Risk
CEO of Risk Cooperative and member of ASP’s Business Council for American Security, Dante Disparte co-published with Daniel Wagner a blog about the proliferation of global risk on Huffington Post entitled Global Risk is Spinning Out of Control.
Disparte and Wagner argue that as man-made risks increase, natural risks also rise. This is causing them to collide in unpredictable ways, leaving risk managers unprepared. As examples they cite the overuse of fungicides reducing the effectiveness of anti-fungal agents leading to more deaths and unusually dry conditions in Canada making it easier for people to start forest fires. They go on to argue that rather than a reactive approach, risk managers need to be more proactive and that man-made risks are everyone’s problem.
