“…[Paul] Brinkley seems to have been successful in at least attracting some investment. He’s been able to get Kate Spade New York to invest [sic] in local Afghan artisans, building trinkets, jewelry, some textiles to then export and sell in their stores. So there’s a possibility of actually creating realistic commercial development here…”
and:
“…this is partly Gen. Petraeus’ idea – this doctrine of counterinsurgency that he helped create – is that: as a counterinsurgent force, you have an obligation to contribute to the economic stabilization of the area where you are doing operations…”
