ASP in the News: Board Member Vice Admiral Lee Gunn (Ret.) in The Nevada Independent
On April 22, ASP Board Member Vice Admiral Lee Gunn, USN (Ret.) wrote an op-ed in The Nevada Independent advocating for transitioning away from fossil fuels to support the U.S. military and strengthen national security.
In the op-ed, Vice Admiral Gunn describes the impact that the threats of climate change can have on military operations and readiness. He describes how the state of Nevada has taken the lead in transitioning away from natural gas and towards renewable energy development.
“For more than two decades the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy have focused in improving mission capability, readiness and resilience through installation of local microgrids based on renewables, advanced storage capabilities, and intelligent power controls. I want to commend the State of Nevada for leading the charge on renewable energy development and diversified transmission. These actions will strengthen the state and contribute to our national security.”
