ASP in the News: Chief Operating Officer Matthew Wallin in The Gazette
On July 10th, ASP Chief Operating Officer Matthew Wallin was quoted in The Gazette in an article on the military transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The article discussed the arrival of new Ford F-150 Lightning trucks to Fort Carson. Wallin explained the significance of the delivery as a meaningful shift, saying:
“As more bases and military infrastructure is made electrification-ready for the light-duty fleet, this changes the mindset of what’s possible, you will see more heavy-duty vehicles take advantages of this infrastructure in the future.”
The article commented on the importance of the military transition to EVs because of the Department of Defense’s current position as the world’s largest institutional user of gas and largest producer of greenhouse gas emissions. Matthew further explained that reducing the need for fossil fuels in the military can have security advantages, citing the high number of soldiers who have been wounded or killed defending fuel convoys.
