Dr. Tim Denning is a seasoned executive who has driven organizations in achieving their strategic objectives and is an accomplished academic.
As an industry executive, Tim has led and been a critical part of teams that have closed numerous deals, winning billions of dollars in contract value in the federal market and has supported nearly $2B of M&A transactions. Blending his industry experience with his academic work, Tim possesses a unique understanding of how industry can partner with government to achieve national security goals. His dissertation centered on researching best practices around the use of market research tools in acquisitions of services supporting leading edge information technology. Tim’s research seeks to gain a greater understanding of how to best conduct acquisitions in support of national security goals with an objective of informing DoD industrial policy.
Tim led STG Group’s (OTCQB:STGG, since acquired by SOSi), Strategy and Business Development functions as the Vice President of Business Development. As the lead for BD at the $200M+ Government Integrator, Tim oversaw all aspects of the growth strategy.
Tim also held various positions within L-3 Communications, including Sr. Director and Deputy to the SVP of BD for the $4.5B L-3 Services Group. He also served as Vice President for Synectics for Management Decisions (SMDI) as an Officer of the Company with Profit and Loss responsibility.
Tim earned his Doctorate in Public Administration at West Chester University in Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. He has an MA cert. in Contracts and Procurement Management from the University of Virginia. He earned an MBA in Finance and MA in Political Science from Lehigh University. He also received a BA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University.
Tim is engaged in a variety of service-oriented endeavors. His service to the nation includes his Commission as a US Naval Reserve Supply Officer, currently attached to the J9 within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) directly supporting the readiness mission for the nation’s combat logistics support agency. In service to his community, he serves as Chair of the Arlington County Community Development Advisory Committee (CDCAC) and is a Commissioner of Economic Development (EDC) for Arlington County. Tim is also on the Board of Arlington Street People Assistance Network (A-SPAN) serving as Chairman, the Board of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) as Chair of the Development Committee, and ASCENT VA’s Board and Steering Committee.
