American Security Project Hires Stanford Alum, Meri Lugo, As New Policy Analyst
WASHINGTON, D.C., 27 September 2010 – The American Security Project (ASP) today announced the appointment of Meri M. Lugo as a policy analyst.
Dr. Jim Ludes, the Executive Director of ASP said: “We’re pleased to welcome Ms. Lugo to our expanding team of skilled professionals. Meri brings a unique expertise in nuclear weapons policy and arms control agreements that will strengthen our role in the public dialogue on nuclear security issues.”
Dr. Ludes went on to say: “ASP has articulated a strong and compelling vision for nuclear security in the twenty-first century. Meri will help us advance this agenda, raise public awareness, and inform policy makers. We’re lucky to have her on board.”
Ms. Lugo said: “The spread of nuclear weapons is still a very real threat to international security, and I’ve spent the past five years studying the disparate challenges posed by the world’s most destructive weapons.”
Ms. Lugo continued: “Distilling these complex and technical issues into clear, concise policy options for the American public is especially challenging, but underlying my research interests is a core belief that hearty agreement on policies to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons is in fact achievable. I look forward to helping ASP contribute to the national discussion on this crucial issue.”
