Andrew Holland: Foreign energy investments give China needed technology
In a recent Voice of America release, ASP Senior Fellow for Energy and Climate Andrew Holland discusses a bid by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to buy Canadian oil company Nexen. Holland says the acquisition would give CNOOC important technology to squeeze more oil out of existing fields.
“This new technology will open some onshore oil and especially offshore oil. There are some real technology gaps between Western companies and CNOOC.”
