Al-Qaida Claims it Carried Out Suicide Attack on British Ambassador in Yemen – The Guardian

In claiming responsibility for the April 26th attack on the British Ambassador, the Yemeni al Qaeda affiliate al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) outlined its ostensible motivation for conducting the attack:

Britain is America’s closest ally in its war on Islam, and it is the one which called the London conference, in which it plotted against the Arabian Peninsula.

That AQAP claimed responsibility isn’t particularly surprising; AQAP was clearly the most likely culprit in the bombing attack. It is interesting to see, though, the degree to which AQAP’s public statements are continuing to trend toward framing each attack and attempt as an effort to hurt the United States and those seen as collaborating with it.
