ASP in the News: Adam Despang in The Gainesville Sun
ASP Climate Security Outreach Planner Adam Despang was featured in The Gainsville Sun on July 4th, speaking about the threats climate change poses to U.S. national security.
Despang also went into detail on how increasingly severe flooding and weather pose a significant risk to military operations both in Florida and nationwide.
“Longer and stronger hurricanes drastically increase the risk for wind and flood damage and increased flooding.” The state military operations would also suffer from increasing temperatures in Florida.
Despang encouraged state and federal policymakers to invest in climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation efforts like green infrastructure and clean energy.
