ASP Statement on National Academies Report: “An Assessment of the Prospects for Inertial Fusion Energy”
WASHINGTON D.C., 21 February 2013 – The American Security Project CEO, Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, USMC (Ret.) comments on the National Academies report assessing inertial fusion energy.
ASP CEO, BGEN Stephen Cheney, USMC (Ret.):
“The National Academies report on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) concludes that the potential benefits of fusion energy justify continued R&D support for as part of the long-term U.S. energy portfolio.
ASP agrees – fusion is a clean, safe, secure and abundant source of energy that is virtually inexhaustible. While we agree that with the National Academies that a national, coordinated, broad-based program for inertial fusion is needed, ASP also believes that America requires a national commitment to fusion energy today.”
