ASP’s Cheney in Reuters

On March 7th, ASP CEO, BGen Stephen Cheney, USMC. (Ret.) was quoted in Reuters regarding the use of RD-180 engines in Atlas V rockets.

The issue of national security in relation to our exploration of space is an ongoing issue for us at ASP. As the Space Race of the 20th Century died down and our advancements in the field became progressive movements rather than evolutionary leaps, the technology used to power space flight has been thrown to the wayside. Cheney argues that:

“Given the turmoil going on in Ukraine and Russia, it’s more important now than ever to reinvest in America’s own space infrastructure and programs… Continuing to launch U.S. rockets into space that are powered by a Russian-made engine puts our national security and military readiness at risk.”
