ASP Senior Fellow Dr. Bernard Finel on C-Span’s Washington Journal
ASP Senior Fellow Dr. Bernard Finel appeared alongside James Carafano from the Heritage Foundation on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, Sunday, May 2. They discussed the deficit and the national security ramifications of cutting defense spending. In part, Dr. Finel questions if America needs to spend what it actually does on defense. He says the defense budget has increased by 250 percent since the Bush administration began in 2000. He states that America can find the money to pay for legitimate security threats, but there is not a process that is serious and disciplined about how large a budget America needs to respond to these threats.
