The Gulf of Guinea is the world’s number one hotspot for piracy and is plagued by maritime insecurity and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. It is a critical transportation node for shipping and is quickly emerging as a key security concern for the United States and global trade writ large.
