Chinese Academy of Sciences – PPPL Contributes to EAST Diagnostics
27 February 2012
Dr. Manfred Bitter and Dr. Kenneth Hill of Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) helped install a two-crystal-on-one-substrate assembly on the poloidal X-ray crystal spectrometer at the Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP) during a visit starting on February 11, 2012.
The spectrometer allows the measurement of both helium-like and hydrogen-like spectra using a single detector. The new-added capability will provide more information for satellite spectra and the related atomic physics. They also proposed potential future cooperative activities on the deployment and flexible usage of the high-throughput X-ray detector for metal impurity spectra.
