That’s what 11 Pacific Island nations compare the effects of climate change to. In a letter to the UN Security Council, the island nations are pleading with them to break the stalemate in negotiations over a legally binding global climate treaty.

“If (the) international community fails to take immediate action, then it will be complicit in the extinction of entire nations,” said Nauru’s UN Ambassador Marlene Moses, chair of the island nations’ group.

The Pacific Island currently faces food and water shortages due to climate change, not to mention, many people are becoming climate refugees.
