Climate scientists and economists urge Senate take action on climate crisis
Two thousand US economists and climate scientists recently sent a letter to the Senate urging them to make nationwide cuts in greenhouse-gas emissions related to global warming. They write:
“We call on our nation’s leaders to swiftly establish and implement policies to bring about deep reductions in heat-trapping emissions. The strength of the science on climate change compels us to warn the nation about the growing risk of irreversible consequences as global average temperatures continue to increase.”
Despite a negative reaction from the public following errors made in scientific reports, the letter-writing scientists remain adamant that the bulk of climate science is accurate. Furthermore, they state the climate problem may be worse than earlier reported.
