Paris, February 14, 2012 – The Nuclear equipment supplier DAHER has won the global tender put out by ITER Organization. Selected from among a total 96 bidders, this five-year contract (2012-2017) makes DAHER, the European integrated equipment and services supplier, the single partner for driving global logistics and performing transportation of the heavy lift and oversized components needed to build the experimental reactor at Cadarache (Bouches-du-Rhone, southern France).
Some 200 exceptional convoys, including around thirty very heavy oversize operations, will negotiate the approximately hundred kilometre long ITER itinerary. Some components will weigh as much as 500 tons, measuring 9 metres in width, 61 metres in length and 10 metres in height. Logistics will be tested with a tryout convoy set to take place this year.
