Strong magnetic fields could boost output energy from pulse fusion – one of the technologies vying for adoption in future nuclear fusion power stations.
Rather than attempting to sustain hydrogen fusion continuously in a magnetic container, pulsed fusion only requires that the deuterium and tritium are held physically in a hollow bead a few milimetres across.
