The Future of Stability Operations: Lessons from Afghanistan

The international community has learned a great deal about how to conduct stability operations in the last 12 years. Join us for a fact-based discussion with leading experts on stability operations. The panel will discuss key lessons from the experience in Afghanistan and how they can be applied to future conflict environments.
Speakers:
Sloan Mann, Managing Director of Development Transformations, a consultancy focusing on improving the effectiveness of stability and development programming in countries in the midst of – or emerging from – conflict or political transition. A former Army and USAID officer, Sloan has worked in conflict zones for the past decade.
Eythan Sontag, Director of Overseas Operations Office, Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO), U.S. Department of State. Eythan is also a senior member of CSO’s Civilian Response Corps-Active (CRC-A).
Lt Gen Frank Kearney III, (USA, Retired), President of Inside-Solutions-LLC, former Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning at the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and former Operations Officer and Deputy Commanding General for the Joint Special Operations Command for the initial invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Howard Clark, former Marine with multiple deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Philippines; a Senior Intelligence Officer at Homeland Security; senior consultant to Special Operations Command; and published author. Howard has just returned from a year in Afghanistan advising Special Forces units on local level stability operations.
