Yemen’s Political Transition and National Dialogue: Progress and Challenges

Yemen is currently in a historic period of political transition following the 2011 revolution and the end of former President Saleh’s regime. At the mid-point of its National Dialogue process, Yemen faces many challenges. Please join us for a discussion of Yemen’s progress to date and the obstacles that remain.

Speakers:

Ambassador Barbara Bodine, Lecturer in Public and International Affairs and Director of the Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University; former U.S. Ambassador to Yemen.

Mohammed Albasha, Spokesman for the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Washington, DC.

Danya Greenfield, Deputy Director of the Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East at the Atlantic Council and Co-Chair of the Yemen Policy Initiative.

Timothy Fairbank, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Development Transformations, an organization focusing on development and stability programming in countries in the midst of—or emerging from—conflict or political transition. Tim oversees DT’s two programs in Yemen and recently returned from Sana’a.

Brigadier General Stephen A. Cheney, USMC (Ret.), ASP CEO (Moderator).
