STATEMENT: Gen. Castellaw Weighs in on the Debt Talks
The following is a public statement from Consensus Member Lt. Gen. John Castellaw, USMC (Ret.):
“Governing is about making decisions. The President and the leaders of Congress must make tough decisions soon on attacking the deficit with the results also defining who we are as a people—our priorities, our ideals, and our values. Now is the time for both the White House and Congress to show courage by rejecting those who would put partisan politics before the Nation’s good and seize the opportunity for enlightened compromise and determined leadership.
The debt, as Admiral Mullen has said, is a national security issue. We call on the Nation’s leaders, together, to find a solution to the debt crisis that protects investments in America’s future and in our security.”
