PAST EVENT: “The Day Before: A Conference on the National Security Implications of Climate Change”

On Thursday, September 10th at 8:15 a.m. EST, the American Security Project (ASP) and George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs will host a half-day conference titled “The Day Before: A Conference on the National Security Implications of Climate Change.” Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) will deliver the keynote address. ASP will also unveil their new initiative aimed at analyzing the national security implications of climate change, as well as their latest comprehensive climate change report, the “Climate Security Index.”

The conference will discuss how climate change will impact food shortages, scarcity of resources and mass migration and the stability of countries and national and international security. Participants will also discuss the implications of climate change as it relates to U.S. military operations and economic competitiveness.
