The international marketing of the F-35 that the United States needs
Today the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced a possible Foreign Military Sale to South Korea of 60 F-35 Lightning IIs for an estimated $10.8 billion. “The proposed sale of F-35s will provide the Republic of Korea (ROK) with a credible defense capability to deter aggression in the region and ensure interoperability with U.S. forces,” the agency said in a statement.
This is exactly the kind of international marketing of the F-35 that the United States needs. It makes the South Korean Air Force more compatible with ours, will provide a state-of-the-art platform for their defense against any adversary, will provide us with a maintenance capability in the heart of Asia, and will help amortize the overall expense of the F-35 program. This is a win for South Korea, and a big win for us
