Andrea Wert received a B.A. in International Relations from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University. Her studies focused on foreign policy, security, and East Asia and included one year studying abroad at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
At her current position with Sojitz Corporation of America, Andrea conducts in-depth research and analysis on a variety of topics, including but not limited to energy, climate change, U.S. politics and policy, the South China Sea, and national defense/security.
Outside of her 9-to-5, Andrea is the Director of CEPEX, a 501(c)(3) NPO dedicated to cultivating the U.S.-Japan relationship and the next generation of Japan experts. Passionate about civic engagement and the national conversation on critical issues, Andrea furthermore co-founded CUSP, a non-profit committed to providing college and university students a platform for civic discussion and to register their voices and opinions. She is also a member of Women in International Security (WIIS) and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group.
A culture and language enthusiast, Andrea is working to augment her foreign language knowledge of Japanese and Spanish by pursuing Russian, and she plans to begin IR graduate studies in fall 2017.
