Victoria DeSimone earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Psychology, and History from Florida State University in 2014. She received her master’s degree in U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security in August 2016. While attending American University, Victoria interned at the Voice of America and the National Defense University in the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
In 2015, Victoria became the Vice President of Alumni Affairs for the Graduate Leadership Council at American University and also became the Graduate Student Representative for the Latin Alumni Alliance. She completed her Capstone requirement for American University by creating a course for the Department of Justice that would help train law enforcement officers abroad on how to interview suspected terrorists. She hopes that her diverse background will give her a different perspective on national security issues, specifically pertaining to counterterrorism.
Since graduating, she has worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies for the Smart Women, Smart Power Initiative and recently transitioned into her role as Special Assistant to the Executive Director and Program Assistant for the International Career Advancement (ICAP) program at CSIS.
